Video Presentation – “Awake”
This is a very interesting 86-minute 2014 Documentary about the life and teachings of Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda. It was produced by the Self-Realization Fellowship which he originally founded. Through the use of old photos and film clips from the Fellowship’s archives, Yogananda’s entire life is covered. This includes his mother’s death when he was 11, his founding of his “How to Live” children’s school at Ranchi, India right after WWI, and his extensive time in the United States from 1920 until his death decades later. This includes his time in Boston from 1920 to 1925, and his time in Los Angeles from 1925 on. It includes his many lectures all across America, his relationships with Gandhi , and his guru and spiritual master Sri Yukteswar, as well as a detailed look at his spiritual teachings, which were an interesting blend of ancient spiritual wisdom and progressive modern science.
After the film “Awake” we will show about 30 minutes of the documentary “Shortcut to Nirvana” which is about the 2001 Kumbh Mela gathering in India. This has taken place every 12 years for over 2000 years. It is the biggest gathering in the history of humanity. In 2001 it lasted 2 months and included an estimated 70 million pilgrims.

From Agua Fria turn onto Avenida Cristobal Colon or Palomino.
From Cerrillos Blvd. turn onto Baca St., then turn left on Potencia,
and jog left onto Montano St.
