10-Day Live-in Program

The McDougall Program is all about giving you control over your health. Most participants are able to stop all unnecessary medications, avoid surgery, improve their appearance and regain lost fitness. Sick people see doctors, healthy people don’t. Our goal is to make you healthy.

Medical care is provided to each participant personally by our Medical Director, Anthony Lim, MD, with John McDougall, MD overseeing your care every step of the way. There are no gimmicks here – the dramatic improvements are simply the result of a highly nutritious diet, exercise, a focus on better daily habits and gaining freedom from the unpleasant side effects of medication. Unfortunately, these changes are not easily accomplished by people on their own, so our 10-day program is designed to help you do exactly that.

Get Control and Feel Better Than Ever

Even before the 10 days are over, patients routinely tell Dr. McDougall they feel better than they have in years (See Comments). Average weight loss is 4 pounds (2 Kg) in 7 days – half a pound a day – all while eating unlimited amounts of delicious foods, served buffet-style. The results speak for themselves: significant improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar. (See common problems that the McDougall Program treats successfully).

Over 90% of participants are able to stop their medications for hypertension, type-2 diabetes, arthritis, indigestion, and constipation. Those who must stay on medications are often able to switch to simpler, safer, more effective, and less expensive ones.

Another goal is to help you understand your health problems and how to resolve them. For those who are interested, the program goes deeply into the fundamentals of current medical research.

More than a Clinic – It’s a Vacation

The program takes place at the Flamingo Resort and Spa in Santa Rosa, CA with all of the following amenities: luxury rooms, a full service spa, tennis courts, two swimming pools, a modern athletic club, and functional dining and education centers. Many participants tell us that our ten-day program is the best vacation they’ve ever had!

If you are flying by commercial airlines, then the closest airports are San Francisco (SFO) or Oakland (OAK) Airports. From there you can rent a car and drive to the Flamingo Resort in Santa Rosa or take the airport shuttle, Airport Express, and get off at the Park & Ride across from the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Santa Rosa. While on the bus you can arrange for a taxi or Uber to take you to the Flamingo Resort simply by telling the bus driver when you board that you need a taxi or Uber.

We are minutes away from The Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport (STS) located in the heart of Wine Country, 55 miles north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Alaska Airlines provides flights from Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Seattle and Portland to Santa Rosa. American Airlines, United Airlines and Sun Country Airlines also provide a limited amount of flights to Santa Rosa; however, you will need to check if these flights or connecting flights will work with your travel itinerary. Once you have landed you may call a taxi, Uber, limousine or rent a car at the airport to get to the Flamingo Resort.
